Dog breeds with long hair between toes. Mencken said half a dog high and a dog and a half long but this small drop eared dog is tough. They hang to the side or back when the dog is relaxed also called rose ears. There are quite a few breeds. Some examples are spaniels and collies.
It is best not to trim this hair as it is usually there for a reason. Floppy and covered with very long hair so that it is hard to see where the ears end and the hair begins. If you let this hair grow too long it will make it harder for your pup to walk and can make walking quite painful. Their fur is known to be silky with the coat color being generally white. The maltese is a small dog breed that has long straight white hair that drags along the ground with the adult maltese clocking in at the small size of between 3 10 pounds. But often slight trimming is required to prevent matting.
